Sometimes my skin gets really really dry. The dryness I mean is one you can only understand if you’ve used 0.1% Tretinoin. Tretinoin has my skin more sensitive and drier than a desert. I have naturally oily skin and I’ve spent lots of money trying to keep down my oiliness. I got on tretinoin to fix my acne and the oiliness resolved itself. But I’d soon find out that I loved my oily skin better. Stratia Liquid Gold happened when I started out on a quest to fix this. Read on for my Stratia Liquid Gold review in details and why it’s one of the best moisturizers.

Stratia Liquid Gold Description and Claims
Liquid Gold is a one-stop skin-saving powerhouse that belongs in every skincare routine. It’s formulated with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids, the three main ingredients that make up your skin’s moisture barrier. No matter what shape your skin is in, Liquid Gold keeps your face healthy, clear, and resilient.
Your skin’s moisture barrier (the stratum corneum, or outermost layer of the epidermis) has a bricks-and-mortar structure. The bricks are flat, dead skin cells called corneocytes, and the mortar is a fatty mixture made up of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids. This mixture keeps your skin healthy, clear, and resilient. If it’s compromised, it can lead to damaged skin.
Liquid Gold is formulated with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids to mimic and strengthen your natural moisture barrier. By healing dehydration and replenishing that fatty mixture in your stratum corneum, you can address the above symptoms and discover healthy, bouncy, resilient skin.
Liquid Gold is great for all skin types, but works especially well for dehydrated or over-exfoliated skin. Those with normal to oily skin may find Liquid Gold is moisturizing enough to be their only moisturizer, while drier skin types may want to follow it with a heavier cream.
The yellow color is completely natural, caused by the bright red color of sea buckthorn oil. It’s non-staining and vanishes on application for most skin types. Those with extremely pale skin may experience a temporary orange tint, so may want to only use Liquid Gold before bed.
YAY OR NAY?
Yay for almost everything. The efficacy, the packaging, the ingredients. Just yay.
First things first, let’s get into the awesome packaging. The product comes in a 60ml airtight pump bottle. You squeeze the top to dispense a good amount product. As far as product packaging goes, this is definitely one of the best you can get. I’ve passed on on many products with great ingredient lists because they came in the wrong packaging. So this one was really impressive.
The product itself is yellow and serum-like. Apparently, it gets its vibrant yellow color from two types of Sea Buckthorn Oil. I didn’t really care for the color. What matters to me in any product is that it works. And this one did.
This product offers inexplicable relief for overexfoliated skin. I might exfoliate three times a day and use 100% Tretinoin but once I slap this on at the end of my routine I know I’ll be alright. It soothes troubled skin right to sleep.
Although it smelled really bad, I used this every single night until I ran out. Because skin care is self care to me I actually give a damn what my products smell like. Unfortunately this fell short in that department. I can’t say exactly what it smelled like but it wasn’t good and I didn’t like that smell.
This product is great if you have any strong actives in your routine. Use any exfoliating acids, exfoliating masks, retinoic acids? Then this is for you. I will also take some points off of this because it’s not well-suited for day use. Unless you’re spending the entire day indoors and have no plans of seeing the sun then you can use this in the daytime.
