Do Eye Creams Work?

Do Eye Creams Work?

Are eye creams necessary? Do eye creams work? These are some of the questions I get asked everyday. Eye creams are one of the most polarizing skincare products. Lots of people swear by it while a good number of people will tell you it’s useless and serve no real purpose. But do eye creams really work?

The skin around the eyes more fragile than the skin on the rest of the body. It is perhaps the most fragile. This means that this skin around the eye area should be treated with utmost care. Because of this, some experts believe it is essential to use a special cream or gel for this area. If you have an extra sensitive eye area , you will find that regular moisturizers may be too irritating and you may need something else.

The eye area is also the first place to show sign of aging due to its fragility. Because our skin get drier over time, wrinkles start to appear. A special rehydration formula may be needed to target that area.

One can say that eye creams do not really work because they are eye creams but because they may have some special ingredients. These ingredients would of course work too if the product was just a regular moisturizer instead of eye cream. For an eye cream to work, it will need to have ingredients that work.

While eye creams containing the right ingredients can work to improve the eye area, the same can’t be said for their effect on eye bags and puffiness. If eye bags are hereditary, no amount of eye cream will eliminate them or even improve their appearance.
